SDBN - The baccalaureate degree in nursing at USF is fully approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing (SDBN).

Upon completion of this program, you will be prepared for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a registered nurse.

Accelerated Nursing

The Accelerated Nursing track is a 15-month, full-time program designed for students who already hold a bachelor's degree in another field and want to pursue a degree in nursing. It is an intense program with courses offered in a compressed time-frame. It includes a combination of classroom instruction and clinical experiences. A new Accelerated Nursing class is admitted once a year and begins in January. The class completes the program in 15 months (spring of the following year).

Program Highlights

  • Extensive clinical experiences with patient contact beginning in the first semester.
  • Clinical experiences in all areas of nursing practice and across the life-span in state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Nursing courses in a nurturing, Christian-based environment that respects the value and potential of each student.
  • Use of simulation technology in classrooms and during clinical rotations. Students required to have a laptop computer.

Traditional BS Degree in Nursing

Degree in eight semesters. Career for life.

You can obtain your bachelor's degree in nursing by completing courses over an 8-semester period. That means you're just four years away from a career that gives back just as much as you put into it. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of registered nurses will continue to grow 19 percent until 2022, faster than the average for all occupations. An aging population and a high number of RNs nearing retirement will help keep you in demand.

RN-to-BSN

Our online RN-to-BSN program is designed for registered nurses who have an associate's degree or diploma in nursing and want to complete requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Everything about the program revolves around working nurses like you who lead busy lives. The curriculum for this program builds on previous nursing education and includes components that are not part of two-year programs.
