Doctor of Medicine - 4 years Aureus University - School of Medicine

The 4-Year MD program is for students who have completed a Bachelor’s Degree or have completed the premedical requirements which consist of:

• Biology – 90 semester hours
• General & Organic Chemistry – 90 semester hours
• Organic Chemistry – 90 semester hours
• Physics – 90 semester hours

Together with Math, English, and Humanities studies, the 4-Year program is conducted in Aruba and can be completed in 3 Years 4 Months without semester breaks. Candidates who have completed a Bachelor’s Degree or a premedical program are eligible for admission into the 4-Year MD Degree Program.

The 4 year MD Degree program consists of 2 years of basic science courses at the Aruba campus followed by 2 years of clinical rotations in the United States & Canada.

Clinical Clerkship

• (Minimum 72 – 80 weeks)

End of the Second Year

The second year of medical school ends with the Introduction to Clinical Medicine Program which is conducted in the United States. Students learn about the clinical aspects of medicine which prepares them for the USMLE Step 1 Examination. The Clinical Clerkship program begins in the third year.

The Third Year

Third-year students become directly involved in the care and study of patients as they begin to work with team members caring for hospitalized individuals. Third-year students progress through the following clerkships: twelve-week rotations in Internal Medicine and Surgery; six-week rotations in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Obstetrics, and Gynecology and Family Medicine.

The Fourth Year

The fourth-year consists of 24-30 weeks of electives. This introduces the student to various fields of medicine, enhancing both their clinical and diagnostic skills. The Clinical Clerkship prepares students for the USMLE Step 2 examination.

• Six weeks of Obstetrics and Gynecology
• Six weeks of Pediatrics
• Six weeks of Psychiatry
• Six weeks of Family Practice

Transfer Students

Students from ECFMG recognized medical schools may be admitted as transfer students after submitting their complete credentials. The Admissions Committee of Aureus University School of Medicine will review all applications and credentials before admission.

Graduation Requirements

The successfully completed MD program at Aureus University includes Basic Sciences, the Clinical portion of the MD program, USMLE Step 1, USMLE Step 2 CK, and USMLE Step 2 CS. The requirements for the license to practice medicine vary from country to country. Please check with the supervising medical authority of the respective country.
