Introduction
Our bachelor’s programme in Nutrition, Fitness and Health offers you a combination of theory-based and applied learning that will prepare you for your future career and the versatile tasks of working as a health professional in the nutrition and health industries. You will acquire the scientific and fundamental knowledge of nutrition, which includes health promotion, disease prevention and management, the importance of nutrition through the lifecycle, and the role of nutrition in exercise.
During your bachelor’s degree, you will also be provided with essential hands-on skills, through practical classes and internships, nutritional assessment techniques, nutrition intervention, kitchen techniques, and counselling skills.
As a graduate, you will possess a solid understanding of nutrition as your learn more about nutrition in the context of economy, society, and law and how these factors affect nutrition on an individual and public level.
Become a dietician*
You will ensure optimal nutrition of individuals and of communities by promoting better health and physical performance, by preventing predisposed diseases that are influenced by poor nutrition, by maintaining and recovering health through dietary programmes as well as and introducing physical activity regimes.
In the nutrition, fitness and health bachelor’s programme, you will learn through an integrated and multidisciplinary approach addressing facets of human nutrition, health, food science and fitness.

Assess the nutritional status of individuals and implement necessary measures
Throughout your studies, you will gain comprehensive knowledge of different nutritional guidelines and practices, and understand nutritional trends in order to be able, as a graduate, to assess the nutritional status of individuals and special groups of people (including athletes, senior citizens, and children) as well as give your evidence-based feedback on the latest nutritional trends. You will also be proficient in relevant assessment methods, e.g., methods of body composition analysis and anthropometry.
As a dietician, your role won’t be limited to preventing diet-related diseases, but you will play a role in the nutritional management and guidance of individuals who have already been affected by diseases and related problems. You will give specific nutritional recommendations, evaluate their results, and make necessary interventions that you monitor and adjust accordingly. You will also be able to clearly distinguish between preventive and therapeutic measures.

Curriculum
What you can expect in the Bachelor in Nutrition, Fitness and Health
In the bachelor’s degree programme, you will acquire the advanced theoretical knowledge and professional competencies which are essential to practice in the nutrition, fitness, and health industries. This includes mastering applied concepts and interventions with a focus on functions and tasks in communication, counselling, coaching, education, and management.
During your studies, you will acquire a solid knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pathophysiology in order to be able to recognise the different factors and/or diseases disturbing the homeostasis of the organism, and planning and implementing suitable interventions from the nutrition and fitness sector.
In addition, you will also be equipped to develop and offer prevention courses in nutrition and fitness. The Nutrition, Fitness and Health study programme is a versatile programme that prepares you for different tracks you can select once you graduate.
Active learning: Application and practice
You will be able to put your theoretical knowledge into practice right from the start. In our modern equipped practice rooms and our Kitchen/Dietetic Laboratory, you are engaged in an active learning process which gives you the opportunity to practice the different cooking and kitchen techniques or even the techniques applied to diet and health-related conditions. This way, you gain the proficiency and the necessary skills needed for the profession. In addition, you will complete a total of two internships (600 hours), including at least 300 hours in a clinical setting during the bachelor’s degree, in health institutions in Europe and outside Europe, in which you will further deepen your knowledge and skills.
International teaching: Lectures in English

The Bachelor in Nutrition, Fitness and Health is organised into blocks: to deepen knowledge, periods of lecture and practical university attendance alternate with periods of independent self-study. All study materials are available via the LUNEX University online platform. You can therefore learn effectively and organise your study times to suit your personal needs.
Course of study
1st year
After you have been familiarised with the basic scientific concepts and the foundation essentials for nutrition, you will develop a fundamental understanding and knowledge of nutrition and health, dietetics, and other related food science as well as technology concepts. In our Kitchen/Dietetics Laboratory, you will start to learn about and practice cooking and kitchen techniques. Research methods will also be introduced to prepare you for your second year of the programme.
2nd year
In the second year of study, you will acquire more in–depth, applied knowledge related to specific topics in dietetics and nutritional therapy but you will also engage in modules covering the areas of fitness and general health. You will continue to develop your soft skills such as communication, professionalism, and ethics. You will be provided with research methods and organisation of kitchen operations. The objective is to make you more focused on the profession and prepare you for the final year.
3rd year
In the final year of the programme, you will be broadening your knowledge and education on nutrition through modules in nutritional economics and management, law and administration. You will also be applying your acquired knowledge and skills by being part of two internships for a total of 600 hours, including 300 hours in a clinical setting. At the end of your studies, you will write your bachelor’s dissertation.
