Introduction
In the Surgical Technology Program, you will learn all aspects of the Surgical Technologist's role in the operating room, including preparation for the procedure, participation in the procedure, and concluding the procedure.
You will discover just how important and valuable the Surgical Technologist is in today's Operating Room!
Surgical Technologists are vital members of the surgical team. The CST works closely with surgeons, RNs, anaesthesia care providers, and other surgical team members. Duties include set-up, preparation, and participation in surgical procedures. The CST requires knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, sterilization and safety practices, and the ability to anticipate the surgical team's needs.
Students who complete the Surgical Technology program will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam.
Surgical Technologists are employed by hospitals, physicians' offices, and outpatient surgical clinics.
